QUANTITY OF INDOOR UNITS: The cost will be higher with more indoor units. Central air conditioning usually has a single indoor unit. Although ductless systems have between 1 and 8 units indoors that are connected to an outdoor unit. The quantity of units in a ductless system depends on the volume of rooms you want to keep cool.
ENERGY EFFICIENCY (SEER Rating): If you have a system with higher energy efficiency, your cost will be higher. Seer (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) is used to measure the efficiency of Ductless AC. Ratings on ductless mini splits that are higher (between 14 – 33+) are more efficient.
CAPACITY FOR COOLING AND HEATING: The systems that cost more are the bigger systems. We measure the number of BTUs (British Thermal Units) to determine the size of a Ductless mini split. Ductless systems in residences range between 6,000 and 54,000. One of our technicians can tell you what size system you will need.
IF YOU ARE REPLACING AN EXISTING UNIT: The cost is higher when you are installing a ductless mini split system that is new. When you are introducing a ductless system to your home, we need to decide on the most efficient placement of the refrigerant lines. Installing those lines into your walls and other structures for both the indoors and outdoors components of the system has time and labor expenses that you won’t experience when replacing an existing system.
